12 Days Junior Wrapup

On December 21, 95 players from 22 different area schools converged on Historic Old 4th Ward Park for the inaugural 12 Days Junior Hat tournament & can drive!

Thank you, Jacob Croskey from Coan Middle School, winner of the can drive! The collected food items were delivered to the Intown Collaborative Ministries food pantry.

The coed tournament consisted of separate middle school and high school divisions. Each division played a nine team round robin with a final match to determine the winner. Thanks to the adult 12 Days tourney for using up the bad weather; an early morning sprinkle delayed the Juniors start by only a few minutes.

Instead of boring ole Ultimate, these (up to) five player teams played “Mini” on 30×20 12DJryard fields with 6 yard deep end zones. Make-it-Take-it and a 6 count stall ensured fast, best 2-out-of-3 game matches. Several teams were playing savage by the end of the day. Ouch.

Congrats to Harlem Milkshakes, who won the MS finals over Water Warriors *and* won the MS Spirit award.

Ozone/Chain/UGA players led the warmups and the Mini demo.

Thanks to the many day volunteers and the AFDC Juniors Committee for keeping everything running.
