Spring League

The Saturday afternoon Spring League will be divided into two divisions this year- one Coed Division, and one Open Division.

The Coed Division is a 4/3 gender split, as opposed to our traditional 5/2. This means that at least three people of each gender must be on the field at all times. The AFDC is following the lead of many other big cities in experimenting with 4/3, as more truly "coed" than 5/2. However, since we don't want to turn away a lot of male players, we're forming an Open Division as well.

The Open Division has no gender requirements. It will most likely end up being an all-male division, but women are welcome to sign up for this division if they wish.

Coed teams may submit a core with an unlimited number of players on it, as long as the total team rank is not over 50 points. (See the ranking scale on the sign-up form for information on numerical player rankings.) The Open Division will be all-draft.

Captains interested in submitting a Coed core or drafting a team for the Open Division, please contact the Spring League Commissioner, Dan Heacox, email daheacox@usa.net phone 404-504-1575.

Entry forms for Spring League must be postmarked by February 6th. (Don't forget the one penny increase in stamp rates- that will not be a valid excuse for a late entry!) The Spring Draft will be held on Monday, February 22nd. The season will run from March 6th through May 15th, with two days off- March 20th off for Terminus, and April 3rd for the Easter holiday.

NEW! Online Registration

The AFDC is experimenting with online registration for Spring League. In the future we hope this will become the most common way for members to sign up for leagues and other club events. Automating the registration process will also allow members to update their addresses themselves on the web site, assuring that they never miss an issue of the Quarterly Pull.

The registration form will be up and running by February 1st at the latest. Look for details on the web site, www.afdc.com

Terminus

March 20-21

Terminus is the AFDC's yearly ultra-competitive tournament that draws teams from all over the country. There are three divisions with 16 teams each: Mens Club, Womens Club, and College Men. In addition, 8 College Womens teams will be invited. The tournament is held at the Polo Fields in Cumming, north of town. (Exit 12 off of 400.) Games will be held all day Saturday and Sunday, with semis and finals taking place Sunday afternoon. Traditionally, Terminus has attracted some of the top teams in the country, and this year should be no different. Come out and watch some good ultimate!

A Saturday night party will be held for the tournament at the VFW Hall in Roswell starting at around 10 PM. All members are welcome.

Directions and more information about Terminus can be found on the web site, www.afdc.com

Volunteers needed!

We rely on volunteers to help Terminus run smoothly. It is no small feat to put together a top-quality tournament for over 800 players from around the country. Volunteers are needed for the follwing times and duties: the Friday night before the tournament, help line playing fields, set up the main tent, and assemble player care packages. Saturday and Sunday tent duty, selling discs and t-shirts, aiding injured players with ice or medical tape, passing out programs, etc. Sunday night, helpers are desperately needed to take down the tent and clean up any litter. All volunteers will receive either tournament discs or T-shirts, and Friday night volunteers will be treated to a pizza dinner as well.

To volunteer, call Jennifer Christianson at 770-594-9562 or email jennifer@extraplex.com
