Have you ever considered playing Ultimate Frisbee?
If so, now’s your chance! The Atlanta Flying Disc
Club is sponsoring the 2nd annual Women’s Winter
League. WWL will run on Saturdays beginning January
3rd, 2004 through February 21, 2004. An End of Season
Tournament will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2004.
PLAYERS OF ALL SKILLS WELCOME
Don’t worry if you’ve never played before.
Now is the best time to start. Individual players of
all levels are encouraged to sign up. The AFDC WWL encourages
a competitive, but fun learning environment.
WHY SHOULD I PLAY?
Because it’s fun. Because it’s great exercise.
Because it’s a great way to learn the sport. Because
it’s a great community of friends, old and new.
The bigger question is why wouldn’t you play?
WWL HISTORY
The AFDC WWL began last year with a bang. 108 players,
old and new, from the Atlanta area were formed into
6 teams. We held an 8-week regular season and an End
of Season Tournament.
WHAT IS ULTIMATE?
If you’ve never heard of ultimate, it’s
a fast-paced, athletic team sport. It’s played
7 versus 7 on a field resembling a football field. A
team scores by passing the Frisbee down the field and
catching it in the end zone. Once a pass is caught,
that player cannot run and must throw the Frisbee to
a teammate. Any incomplete pass (drop, throwaway, or
interception) is a turnover and play continues with
the opposing team now on offense trying to score.
