Spring Middle School Players’ League

UPDATE: 3/13/20 Remainder of MS Spring Players’ League Cancelled

AFDC Juniors is an affiliate of USA Ultimate (USAU) which is the official national governing body of Ultimate. USAU announced on March 12 that they are cancelling all activity through April 20. As a USAU-sanctioned league, our spring middle school players’ league is now cancelled for the remainder of the season.

We very much appreciate your player’s enthusiasm for our sport, and your support for AFDC Juniors. We are working to again offer a Summer League that will start in June. Look for news about that league coming in April.

This fun, volunteer-run, instructional league includes both new and more experienced players from across Metro Atlanta. The format combines drills and instruction with team scrimmages.

Please note, this is NOT a school-based league, and players sign up as individuals.

The league is comprised of two divisions:

  • Open (co-ed): Open to all genders, grades 6-8.
  • Girls: Girls may choose to play in a GIRLS-ONLY division OR in the Open division. Girls will see both options at registration and need to CHOOSE ONE. Grades 5-8
  • Please note that no 5th graders may play in the open division.

When: Sundays, 1-3 p.m.

  • Feb. 9 – March 15: regular season play

Volunteers Needed

Parents, we can’t make this league happen without volunteers. We can use your help in a big way or a small one, depending on how you want to help. We need people to check the fields for rain, help register and chaperone players, and bring first aid and water. If you are a player as well, we also always can use more volunteers to help coach. Please contact our league commissioners:

FAQs

Who will be leading the teams? We recruit volunteer coaches from all around the Atlanta ultimate community. Coaches come from a variety of different backgrounds involving ultimate but all are ready and enthusiastic to be helping teams this upcoming league.

I already play soccer/water-polo/volleyball & can’t make most days; can I still sign up? Yes! You do NOT have to make every single day, but the season is quick and fun.

What are the skill levels of the players? We have players who have never played before, and we have players who have played on school teams and attended multiple camps. All are welcome.

Are games rescheduled if it rains? We use City of Atlanta fields, and wet fields are frequent in February and March. We have two Sunday rain dates scheduled; that’s what we can offer in terms of rescheduling. No refunds once the league has begun, so please consider carefully.

Other Questions? Contact our league commissioners listed above.
