High School Spring League

UPDATE 3/14/20: High School Spring League Postponed Through April 20

AFDC Juniors is an affiliate of USA Ultimate (USAU), the official national governing body of Ultimate. USAU announced on March 12 that they are cancelling all activity through April 20. As a affiliate, all of our leagues and events are USAU-sanctioned. Therefore  Spring High School League play is postponed through April 20.

We’re working to get our players back on the field as soon as possible. Stay tuned! We’ll let you know as plans evolve around the league and States.

2020 Season Has Begun

AFDC Juniors organizes the High School Spring League to facilitate competition between Atlanta area schools – both boys & girls, varsity & junior varsity. The league  runs during the second half of the school year in the winter to early spring (Feb-Apr).

Two round-robin one-day weekend tournaments are offered during the season for additional play. The regular season then concludes with the USA Ultimate-sanctioned HS State Championship tournament, also know as HS States usually held the last weekend in April. For newer teams or teams not registered through USAU we host an end of season tournament as well to cap off the season.

League Schedule & Format

The 2020 high school season runs from February 1 through April 18.

  • AFDC Juniors is hosting 2 “round robins”: March 14 and April 18.
Teams have the opportunity to play more than one opponent on the same day at the same location. Teams will be guaranteed three games against three different opponents.)
  • Schools are encouraged to also organize “round robins” and schedule additional matches individually with other teams.
  • Rankings for States tournament are scheduled to come out by the end of the day April 20 via algorithm (based on USA Ultimate ranking process for teams) for Open Division only this year.
  • The 2020 HS Spring League is a qualifying event for States Tournament

End of Season Tournaments

The HS State Championship, or States, tournament is the conclusion of the HS Spring League season for USAU registered teams. Use the links below to see final 2019 tournament results for each division:

For the past few years, the Girls Varsity finals has been hosted by Atlanta Hustle as a youth showcase game. Teams face-off in a stadium under the lights and in front of a large crowd of family, friends, and supporters. This event strives to raise the profile of youth and girls’ ultimate.

In 2019, the Girls Varsity finals was also part of the Atlanta Block Party, a triple header with the Atlanta Hustle and Atlanta Soul. Paideia beat Grady HS 13-4, to become the state champs and kick-off a historic event in Atlanta ultimate. The Atlanta Hustle clenched their first season win over the Austin Sol and the Atlanta Soul hosted Colombia Revolution for the start of their tour across the US.
