AFDC Grants: Committee Members Needed

AFDC Grants founder Robyn Turner has stepped down from the committee after 2+ years to focus on journalism projects, and we’re looking for new members. People who are interested in contributing to this effort to support and promote youth and college ultimate should contact Robyn (robynturneroverdrive@gmail.com) and John Boezi (AFDCPrez@gmail.com). Please feel free to email them with any questions.

We’re looking to add members to the committee in time for the start of the spring grant application process. Traditionally, that’s when AFDC Grants awards grants to individuals wishing to participate in summer ultimate skills and fitness camps as well as players who’ve been selected to an Atlanta Youth Club Championships team. Grants are largely awarded on the basis of financial need and service to community. In the past, AFDC Grants has also awarded team grants to high school programs in the fall. Prospective members should have an interest in the selection process, helping to create and maintain a new website, and/or fundraising.

We are sad to lose Robyn but are thankful for all that she has done to create and guide this wonderful program. AFDC Grants was her idea and Atlanta Ultimate will benefit for years to come because of her hard work. Good luck Robyn!

-John Boezi, AFDC President
