This is the first year for SLAM (Sunday Late Afternoon Mini)! Given the issues we’ve had with securing fields for SNL we’re scrapping it and putting together something new and in town. If you’re looking to play club in the spring, mini is a great way to maximize touches and conditioning with teammates.
What: SLAM (Sunday Late Afternoon Mini)
When & Where: Grant Park Boulevard Crossing, Sundays from 5:00-7:00
Regular Season: March 12 – April 16
EoS: April 23
Cost: $40
Format: Men’s and Women’s divisions, each week will feature 3 rounds of 3 games (first to 5 points).
Registration: Sign up individually or with a pair (no rank limits). Teams of 6 will be formed by the commissioner to balance skills and ranks. Register at: https://leagues.afdc.com/leagues
As with SNL league registration is not first come first serve. Priority will be given to highest ranked pairs until leave capacity is filled.
Attendance! Since mini relies heavily on the right amount of numbers (not too many/not too few), attendance is crucial! Please consider this when signing up and selecting your partner. Things will come up, so we’re going to have dedicated free agents that will fill vacancies week to week. If you’re interested in being a free agent specifically, mention it in your notes.
Also, as it’s the first year, we may do a little experimentation, changing up play style or formats (e.g. playing plus/minus or 5 games to 3), so we welcome feedback and suggestions for improvement. Shoot Aileen a note at aileenet@gmail.com if you have questions or feedback.
